Adventure Tours - 3 days soft adventure in Luang Prabang

Enjoy a trek out of the tracks, passing by waterfalls and homestay. Discover small river by kayaks.

DAY 1 - mountain bike, elephant riding, boat ride, tad sae waterfall, trek and homestay

After getting fitted on one of our quality mountain bikes, begin riding from Luang Prabang city center headed to the Nam Khan River valley. Our first stop will be Wat Pa Phon Phao, a quiet monastery with a wonderful golden stupa and a spectacular view of the city. Next stop is in Ban Phanom, a well-known cotton and silk hand-weaving village (Lao Lum culture). Continue to the grave of Henri Mouhot, the popularized French discoverer of the Angkor Ruins who died here in Luang Prabang in 1861. Our last stretch of biking will take us to the banks of the Nam Khan River and the Adventure Camp.
Travel by boat upriver to the Tad Sae Waterfall. Spend the afternoon enjoying lunch, swimming, exploring the area surrounding the waterfalls, and elephant riding. Hike 1.5 hours to a traversing rice paddy fields and terraced slopes toward a peaceful village.
Finished with an afternoon of exciting activities at the waterfall, we'll hike up the mountain behind Tad Sae Waterfall through rice paddies and jungle about 1.5 hours to a peaceful Khmu village. Spend the evening exploring the village and its people under the stars and nestled in the foothills of spectacular limestone mountains during this unforgettable hill tribe homestay.


DAY 2 - Full day big jungle trek to hmong, khmu villages, and homestay

After breakfast, we'll begin our biggest day of trekking on one of the most spectacular trails in the area. We'll hike through karst, limestone mountains on trails used by locals in their daily life. We visit a remote Hmong village on a lake along the way and learn about the various traditional aspects of the minority cultures of Hmong and Khamu tribes. In the late afternoon, we will arrive at the overnight village where we stay tonight. Total hiking time is approximately 4-5 hours under normal conditions covering about 10 Km medium difficult trail (under wet conditions trekking can be challenging and good trekking shoes are recommended).
Spend another night with the locals in a village homestay after this full day of trekking.


DAY 3 - Jungle trek and kayaking on the nam khan river

Breakfast at hotel, transfer to the Elephant camp, situated in an idyllic countryside setting, surrounded by mountains. After arrival, you will be registered and receive a Mahout Uniform. You will get briefing about the elephants and different commands used by every mahout. You will then meet your elephants fulltime mahout and elephant and learn how to sit on the elephants back and how you can gently control your elephants practice. Simple Lao style lunch at the camp’s restaurant. Afternoon, start to ride your elephant to through the jungle for 1,5hour, then bring your elephant for bathing, you will be getting wet. After that, you guide your elephant to the jungle for relax.
Dinner and accommodation at Mahout Lodge.

During the low water season, the itinerary remains the same as above with the following few exceptions to accommodate natural changes in water levels.

A journey in Luang Prabang and around to discover how to train and treat your elephant.

DAY 1 - mountain bike, elephant riding, boat ride, tad sae waterfall, trek and homestay

With the drier riding conditions we'll ride an extended 37 Km bike route (in lieu of going to Tad Sae waterfall which can be low or dry) that takes you through rice paddies and villages with a small river crossing by bike. Elephant riding will be on day three.


DAY 2 - Full day big jungle trek to hmong, khmu villages, and homestay

The second day is the same as above.


DAY 3 - Jungle trek and kayaking on the nam khan river

From the homestay, hike 1.5 hours out of the mountains to the Nam Khan River and Tiger Trail Adventure Camp. You’ll ride elephants at the adjacent and impressive Elephant Village camp. Then, kayak 11 Km with some small rapids before pickup and return transfer to Luang Prabang.
